Sandoval 5-for-5 for Lancaster
|
Farmers right fielder Fernando Sandoval had his way with Marquette pitching today at Marquette Stadium and mauled them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Miners ruined his great day by toppling the Farmers, 9-8.
"I had a great day, but you've got to give Marquette credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits."
"Oh, we noticed what Sandoval did today," Miners skipper John Wright said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him."
Fernando Sandoval singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, hit an RBI triple in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Fernando Colón in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.
Thus far this season Sandoval has hit .268 with 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and scored 12 times.
