Blimps Get Road Win, 5-2
|
With first baseman Lauren Hilfiker leading the charge, the Akron Blimps defeated the Chesapeake Continentals, 5-2, at Chesapeake Grounds. Hilfiker, who is tied for 7th in the SAA in triples with 2, went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Tom Hegedus earned the win to go to 1-3. He allowed 2 earned runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Eddo Mud earned the save, his 5th, for the Blimps.
Surender Nada put Akron in front, 2-1, when he took Paul Vereen downtown. His 2-run home run came with two out in the top of the fourth. It was his 2nd home run of the season.
Nada called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
Akron now has a 3-game win streak.
