Continentals Curb Miners, 9-5

The Chesapeake Continentals picked up a win at Marquette Stadium, knocking off the Marquette Miners, 9-5. Starting pitcher Tsu-wee Qi played a key role in the triumph. Edgardo Tejeda earned the save, his 6th. Chesapeake, at 9-18, occupies last place in the Silver AA.
The Continentals grabbed the lead in the top of the first. With two out, Lorenzo Varela hit a 2-run home run off Pedro Lucero, putting Chesapeake in front, 4-0. For Varela, it was his 4th home run of the season.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Qi. "Just do my job."
