|
The Irving Blue Sox got a sterling performance from pitcher Zach Pinyerrel, but the Blimps still prevailed, 4-3. Pinyerrel was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. Akron reliever Tom Holloway picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Peter Ventola shouldered the loss. At 15-12, the Blimps find themselves in 4th place in the Silver AA.
Had Juan Laguna not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Laguna hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Blimps.
"We're all smiles after that win," Laguna told the Akron Gazette.
