Hamhock Slugs Thunder Hawks to 7-4 Win
|
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks topped the Yakima Hops by the score of 7-4, with the largest share of the credit going to shortstop Roberts Hamhock. Hamhock belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4 for the Thunder Hawks. Lucas van Halteren got the win, improving to 2-2. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 9 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 0. With the win, Ft. Polk South goes to 15-11, while the Hops fall to 13-13.
Hamhock contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Ft. Polk South in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-1, Hamhock took a changeup from Mark Garrett and stroked the home run to left-center. His 13th home run of the season allowed the Thunder Hawks to leap in front, 4-3.
"The more wins we pile up," said Hamhock, "the more I like our chances."
