Miners Solve Blimps, 4-2
|
Marquette rode a fine outing from starter Kenko Nakano to victory over the Akron Blimps at Marquette Stadium. The final score was 4-2. Shawn Stevenson recorded the save for Marquette, his 2nd of the season. The win takes Marquette to 5-2.
In the bottom of the 6th, catcher Al Grant gave Marquette the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Miners had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out double off Akron pitcher Raúl Valdéz changed that -- and Marquette went on to win.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Nakano.
