Continentals Sneak Past Miners, 5-4

Behind a solid performance from designated hitter Frank de Blooys, the Chesapeake Continentals defeated the Marquette Miners, 5-4. de Blooys was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Continentals. Edgardo Tejeda closed the game out for Chesapeake, earning his 1st save. The win pushes Chesapeake to a record of 1-1.
It could have been a different outcome for Chesapeake, had it not been for Maurício Calabaa, the 26-year old catcher . Calabaa contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Chesapeake up, 5-4.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Chesapeake manager Ismael González. "It's usually not just one thing."
