The Syracuse Starks picked up a win at KC Reserve Stadium, knocking off the Athletic Club KC Reserves, 6-4. Starting pitcher Octávio Ríos was an essential part of his team's success. Ríos got the win, improving to 8-6. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. Ríos allowed no earned runs. Denver Milne notched his 6th save in 9 chances.
Syracuse used the timely hitting of Ernesto Souza to capture the win. The third baseman stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Starks on top, 6-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Ríos.
Syracuse is now 46-56. Athletic Club KC is 55-47.
