Redlegs Roll Coyotes, 9-6
|
The Sacramento Redlegs trumped the Hamilton Coyotes, 9-6, at Sacramento Sanitation Station. Sacramento right fielder Jurg Ursin was named player of the game for his performance. He was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Sacramento reliever Stewart Cartwright picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Katsuyoshi Takuda absorbed the loss. John Kraan got credit for the save for Sacramento. It was his 5th of the year.
The Redlegs got a big boost from shortstop Alexei Ponikarov who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the fourth inning off Coyotes hurler Jeff Arocha. It was his 7th RBI of the season and put Sacramento on top, 3-2.
"It feels good to get this one," Ponikarov told the Sacramento Gazette.
Sacramento is 4th in the Menard's AAA with a record of 44-40.
