Starks Roll to 8-3 Win Over Dodos
|
The Syracuse Starks beat the Hialeah Dodos, 8-3, at Dodos Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of catcher Bob Petiet, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Octávio Ríos went 6 innings for Syracuse to pick up the win. The left-hander was charged with 3 earned runs. He scattered 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 1. His record improves to 3-5. Their 29-28 record puts the Starks 7th in the Menard's AAA.
It could have been a different outcome for Syracuse, had it not been for Javier López, the 28-year old shortstop . López contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put Syracuse up, 4-1.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Petiet told the Syracuse Observer.
