Flyers Raise Rally Flag, Beat Phoenix, 6-4
|
The Pennsauken Flyers knocked off the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves, 6-4, at Pennsauken Park. Naohiro Sakai was named player of the game for Pennsauken. He hit 1 single and 1 double, while driving in 3 runs. Reliever António Rodríguez picked up the win. His record improves to 1-2. Ty McDaniel took the loss. Pennsauken's record now stands at 28-26, placing them 6th in the Menard's AAA.
Sakai had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-1 fastball from Ty McDaniel, he banged a bases-clearing double to right-center, giving the Flyers a 5-4 lead. It was the 7th double of the year for Sakai.
In postgame comments to the Pennsauken Citizen, Sakai said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
