Coral Reefers Top Redlegs to Even Record
|
Key West Coral Reefers starter Javier Contreras pitched effectively against the Sacramento Redlegs at Sacramento Sanitation Station. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 5-2 win. Contreras, the winner, moves to 3-3. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 4 walks. Picking up the save was Jim Eisenmenger, his 1st.
Key West needed the clutch hitting of Juan Martínez to notch the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Coral Reefers on top, 3-1. For the game, Martínez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It's a mindset," said Contreras. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
With the win, the Coral Reefers have a record of 26-26.
