Rodríguez Goes Wild, But Coyotes Win
|
The Phoenix Hotspur Reserves got a superb performance from first baseman Carlos Rodríguez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Hamilton. The Coyotes won the game, 5-3. In spite of the loss, Rodríguez was named the player of the game. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The winner was Victor de Meij, who threw 101 pitches over 7.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits. Walid bin Amid nailed down his 1st save.
Tomás Bermúdez aided the Hamilton cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the shortstop was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Bermúdez said after the game.
The Coyotes improved to 22-21.
