The Sacramento Redlegs beat the Syracuse Starks, 10-2, at Stark Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Héctor Amaya, who captured player of the game honors. Sacramento used the clutch hitting of Nigel Sturges to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to give the Redlegs the lead, 4-0. For the game, Sturges had 1 single and 1 double in 3 at-bats.
