People near The Strip no doubt heard the roar of the crowd as the winning run crossed the plate.
The Las Vegas Flamingos defeated the Charleston Battery, 10-9, in United States Premier League action at The Strip. Sake van Arem received player of the game honors. The 14-year veteran went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Las Vegas reliever Pedro Ortíz picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Kenete Daku shouldered the loss.
Sun-jae Kwak, who is tied for 3rd in the PL in triples with 2, chipped in for Las Vegas with a 2-run single in the bottom of the ninth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 runs batted in.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said van Arem.
With the win, Las Vegas goes to 11-18, while the Battery fall to 17-12.
