Buzz Score Late to Upend Hotspur Reserves, 11-2
|
Salt Lake City Buzz starter Markus Widner was in fine form against the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves at Thunderbirds Stadium, leading his team to a 11-2 win. In 8.2 innings, Widner surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. With the loss, Phoenix drops to 6-13.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Steve Pugh came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Phoenix pitcher Ty McDaniel, he hit a 1-2 circle change for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Salt Lake City on top, 3-2.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Pugh told the Salt Lake City Daily News.
