Dodos Need Extra Frames to Get Past Redlegs
|
The Hialeah Dodos outlasted the Sacramento Redlegs in an extra-inning thriller.
The Hialeah Dodos wiggled past the Sacramento Redlegs, 4-3, at Sacramento Sanitation Station. Hialeah pitcher Anastasio Cabanillas Jr. earned player of the game honors. Marcos Sarmiento closed the door for Hialeah, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the 13th inning. With one out, Arvo Helminen hit a full count fastball from Ed Molloy for a run-scoring single. It put Hialeah in front, 4-3.
"We had a chance to win," said Sacramento manager Rich Hunter, "but we didn't get it done."
Hialeah, now 13-5, has gotten their season off to a good start.
