Drummers Fall Short, 3-2, at Syracuse
|
Daniel Maldonado had a good game, but he could not keep the Tortolita Drummers from falling, 3-2, to the Syracuse Starks at Stark Stadium. The Tortolita left fielder was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times in the loss. Syracuse reliever José Ortíz picked up the win to move to 1-0. Kabeya Kasongo suffered the loss. The Drummers fall to 5-9 and continue to sputter in the early going.
The Starks got a big at-bat from third baseman Ernesto Souza. For the game, Souza was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Syracuse a 3-1 lead.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Syracuse manager Jacob Green.
