The New Orleans Voodoo faced a tough opponent in Las Vegas pitcher Hikaru Yamaguchi, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Strip by a final score of 4-1. Yamaguchi went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. New Orleans reliever Grover Lowdermilk was credited with the win, to go to 1-3. Hikaru Yamaguchi took the loss for Las Vegas. New Orleans is now 16-11, Las Vegas 9-18.

In the top of the first, Orlando Velásquez ambushed a 2-2 fastball from Hikaru Yamaguchi and hit a 2-run home run. It gave New Orleans a quick 2-0 lead.

"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Velásquez told the New Orleans Daily.
