Dirty Reds Lose to Knights, 3-1
|
In a tight battle between the Kingston Township Knights and the San Mateo Dirty Reds, pitcher Currito Fonseca was in the zone. The Kingston Township right-hander was named the player of the game in Kingston Township's 3-1 win. The Dirty Reds, at 20-14, have lost 4 in a row.
The Dirty Reds had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Knights going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old designated hitter Ed Mellor came to the plate. Mellor hit a 2-run home run on a 2-2 slider from San Mateo hurler Michael Machen. It was Mellor's 11th home run of the year.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Fonseca told the Kingston Township Observer.
