Cattlemen Win at Athletic Club KC, 4-3
|
The Ft. Worth Cattlemen picked up a win at Athletics Park, knocking off the Athletic Club KC, 4-3. Starting pitcher Zalontae Hillary was an essential part of his team's success. The winning pitcher was Hillary, now 2-2. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. Pedro Valdéz got credit for the save for Ft. Worth. It was his 7th of the year.
Ft. Worth used the timely hitting of Bart Lewis to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cattlemen ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Ft. Worth manager Scott Thompson.
The Cattlemen are now 17-10, while the Athletic Club KC fall to 14-13.
