5-3 Win by Shredders Continues Hot Start
|
The Hollywood Shredders picked up a win at Athletics Park, knocking off the Athletic Club KC, 5-3. Starting pitcher Jason Starkey, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Starkey, the winner, moves to 3-0. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 4 walks. Hollywood is off to a hot start at 14-5.
Hollywood used the timely hitting of Ramón Degollado to capture the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Shredders on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Starkey said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
