Extra-Inning Win by Dirty Reds over Piranhas
|
The Panama City Piranhas got a superb performance from pitcher Jason MacGruder, but the San Mateo Dirty Reds still won the game, 3-2. MacGruder was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball. The loss drops Panama City to 6-6.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder António Mendoza came to bat in the bottom of the 11th. Facing Panama City pitcher Joe Khokar, he hit a 1-0 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting San Mateo on top, 3-2.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Panama City skipper Brian Talamante, "and it cost us."
