Evergreens Drop Voodoo with Late Score
|
The Portland Evergreens bested the New Orleans Voodoo by a score of 5-4, with second baseman Moriz Ayushiev getting the main credit. On the day, Ayushiev was 3-3 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs for the Evergreens. Raúl Romero, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save. Portland, now 13-8, has played well in the early going.
Portland took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With two out, pinch hitter John Schaefer hit a 2-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Ayushiev.
