Houston 1837 BBC starter Zhao-ji Qiu was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 6-3. José Ledezma notched his 23rd save in 27 chances. Houston is now 46-52, while Northern Virginia is 56-42.

Houston needed the clutch hitting of Phil Sherman to notch the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the 1837 BBC on top, 4-3. For the game, Sherman had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Sherman told the Houston Times.
