Northern Virginia Hot Streak Continues with 6-4 Win
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids defeated the Toledo Stingers, 6-4, in United States Silver League action at Pacesetter Park, with Northern Virginia catcher Felix Plugge named player of the game. Reliever Randy Carr picked up the win. His record improves to 8-4. Nelle Liefting took the loss. The save was credited to Brewster Warble, his 18th.
Plugge had a game-changing single in the top of the ninth. On a 1-2 cutter from Nelle Liefting, he banged a run-scoring single to left, giving the Rainbow Mermaids a 3-2 lead. It was the 23rd hit of the year for Plugge.
"We feel like we're going to win every game right now," said Northern Virginia skipper David Lister.
Northern Virginia has now won 9 straight.
