Newcastle No Match for Fufachev Sunday, September 2nd, 2035 Santa Fe Revolvers fans were pleased to see so many goose eggs up on the scoreboard as Arvi Fufachev blanked the Newcastle Mermen, 7-0 at Newcastle Stadium today. Fufachev stopped them on 6 hits while walking 2 and striking out 7. "Once he gets in a groove, he can be dynamite," Revolvers skipper Luis Díaz said. "He was on top of his game in this one." So far this year Fufachev has made 7 starts, tossed 67.2 innings, struck out 54 batters and walked 20. His record is 5-5 with a 3.99 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .272 batting average.
