Dodos Stop Espantoso at 21 Saturday, July 21st, 2035 The hitting streak that Salt Lake City left fielder Germán Espantoso had kept going for 21 games was ended today by the Hialeah Dodos. Espantoso was stymied over 4 at-bats today, but the rest of his team picked him up, taking the 5-4 victory at Spirits Stadium. "Hitting streaks come and go," Espantoso said. "It did put a little pressure on me. It's hard to be natural at the plate with something like that always in the back of your mind. If it had to end, I'm glad it was in a win." This year Espantoso has collected a .359 batting average to date with 55 hits in 153 at-bats, 17 RBIs, no home runs and scored 23 times. He has played in 37 games. |
