Bulls, Ibáñez Blank Caterpillars
Thursday, July 26th, 2035
It wasn't easy but the Mt. Vernon Bulls made it look that way.
Starter Patrick Ibáñez shut out the Grand Forks Caterpillars despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Mt. Vernon Bulls cruised to victory, 4-0. Ibáñez allowed only 1 hit and rang up 6 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
Ibáñez has a 2-2 season record so far. In 5 starts, he has fanned 32 batters in 31.2 innings with a 4.55 ERA.
