Thundercats Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
It was a good time at The Thunder Dome, where fans came to watch the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids and Richardson City Thundercats get after it.

The Richardson City Thundercats beat the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 8-6, at The Thunder Dome. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter Chris Fitzgerald, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Stanford McCain picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 4 earned runs on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 6-7. Doug Freeth earned his 5th save in 8 chances.

Melvin Thomas, who is rated as the 3rd best prospect by BNN, helped out the Richardson City cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the shortstop went 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Brett Reichert said.
