Battery Bang Out 6-3 Win Versus Richardson City
|
The Charleston Battery racked up a win at Charleston Armory, bumping off the Richardson City Thundercats, 6-3. Tony Alfonso, who started for Charleston, pitched effectively for his team. Alfonso got the win, improving to 5-4. He allowed 8 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. Alfonso allowed 2 earned runs. Hiroaki Kouda notched his 19th save in 22 chances.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Hiroaki Kouda didn't flinch. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and Richardson City trailing 5-3, Kouda retired Manuel Ramos to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Kouda, with a wink.
Charleston has now won 3 straight, while the Thundercats have lost 7 in a row.
