Big Day for Bennett as 1837 BBC Down Thundercats, 8-6
|
The Houston 1837 BBC bested the Richardson City Thundercats by a score of 8-6, with left fielder Eugene Bennett getting the main credit. On the day, Bennett was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the 1837 BBC. Houston reliever Emil Olsson got the win, raising his record to 3-0. Doug Freeth was tagged with the loss. Houston is now 39-33, Richardson City 32-40.
Bennett had a game-changing double in the top of the eighth. On a first pitch changeup from Doug Freeth, he banged a run-scoring double to left-center, giving the 1837 BBC a 7-6 lead. It was the 16th double of the year for Bennett.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the 1837 BBC," said Bennett.
