Vargas Rips Richardson City for 5 Hits
|
Jesús Vargas put on a hitting clinic today as the Athletic Club KC dumped the Richardson City Thundercats 6-5 at Athletics Park.
The Athletic Club KC center fielder made Richardson City defenders earn their pay, lashing Richardson City pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."
"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Vargas said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."
Jesús Vargas singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Julián Moreno in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th and walked in the 12th.
Vargas is hitting .315 so far this season with 35 RBIs and 40 runs scored. He has 74 hits including 10 home runs, 35 walks and .413 OBP.
