Jimínez, Blue Sox Wallop Eclipse in Game 1 of R1
|
The Irving Blue Sox started the SL AA Championship in style today, winning on the road against the Northville Eclipse at Old-Timers Park by a score of 6-5 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Blue Sox left fielder Juan Jimínez was named player of the game after he went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2.
Irving grabbed control in the top of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, Rafael Porfrio delivered a grand slam home run, to make it 6-5 in favor of the Blue Sox.
"Losing is easy," said Porfrio. "Winning is hard."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow in Northville. The scheduled starters for the game are Ken French for Irving and Denie Ulderink for Northville.
