Lake Monsters Win to Extend Series Lead to 2-0
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Royse City Targaryens at Monster Field by a score of 8-1. Lake Monsters catcher Joe Davidson was named player of the game after he was 4-5 with 4 singles, while adding 3 RBI. The win gives the Lake Monsters a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 SL AAA Championship.
The Lake Monsters had to work out of trouble in the top of the sixth. The score was 8-1, Vermont, with one out. Royse City, with the bases loaded, was mounting a threat. Mitsuhide Bando dug in at the plate, but on a first pitch forkball, he hit into a double play.
Game 3 is set to be played Monday, September 24th, 2035 in Royse City. Slated to start are Mike Brandner for Vermont and Kevin Maughan for Royse City.
