Dragonblood Rally Past Jets to Claim 1-0 Series Lead
|
The Yellowknife Dragonblood took the first game of the SL A Championship in dramatic fashion today, topping the Kennesaw Jets in a ninth-inning, walk-off, 6-5 win. Dragonblood right-hander Bren Spillane was selected player of the game, as he was 3 for 4 with a triple, a double, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Yellowknife trailing 5-3, Spillane hit a slider from Robert Karabanov for a bases-clearing double. Just like that, the Dragonblood had a walk-off win.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Spillane.
Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow in Yellowknife. The scheduled starters for the game are Al Gagne for the Kennesaw Jets and Wilson Valenzuela for the the Yellowknife Dragonblood.
