Almost There: New Orleans On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 7-6 Win
|
Las Vegas right fielder James Pike pounded New Orleans Voodoo pitchers at The Strip, but it was not enough to keep the Flamingos from falling, 7-6 in Game of the Round 1. Pike was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once and was named player of the game for his efforts, even as he saw the Flamingos slip to a - deficit in the best-of- series.
Ramón Garmendia hit a 2-run triple off Martín Valverde in the top of the seventh, which put the Voodoo in front, 7-5. Garmendia had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 5.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Garmendia told the New Orleans Daily News.
