Pivotal Game Goes to Host 1837 BBC, 5-4
The Houston 1837 BBC needed some last-minute heroics to do it, but ultimately emerged one game away from the Round 2 today. The 1837 BBC got took the 5-4 win against the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids in a walk-off at Houston Grounds. Houston second baseman Joey Trifone was named player of the game after he went 2 for 2 with 2 doubles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. The win gives the 1837 BBC a - advantage in the best-of- Silver League Championship.

Bob Dickerson had a nice at-bat for the 1837 BBC with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With the bases empty, the designated hitter drew a walk, which would prove important in the Houston win.

"I felt good up there," said Trifone. "I saw the ball well."
