Pivotal Game Goes to Host Stingers, 5-3
|
The Toledo Stingers moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting New Orleans Voodoo at Pacesetter Park by a score of 5-3. Stingers designated hitter Tamasaburo Kato was named player of the game after he was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. The win gives the Stingers a - advantage in the best-of- Silver League Championship.
In the bottom of the sixth, Toledo right fielder Alfredo Martínez had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 2nd and two out, Martínez stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 3-1, Toledo. For the game, he was 2 for 5 with 2 singles. He scored 2 runs.
"We're all smiles after that win," Martínez told the Toledo Gazette.
