Toepfer Handcuffs Knights, Rainbow Mermaids Seize - Advantage in R1

Game was big. So was Noe Toepfer.
The Northern Virginia starter rose to the occasion at Cloverdale Legion Park today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Rainbow Mermaids to a crucial 7-1 victory over the Kingston Township Knights. Toepfer threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball as the Rainbow Mermaids won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- Silver League Championship.
Valentín Guzmán, who is tied for 9th in the SL in RBI with 20, contributed to the Northern Virginia win with a 2-run home run in the top of the first. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Guzmán told the Northern Virginia Today.
