Silver League Championship Game 1 Victory for García\n and Northern Virginia
|
Ricardo García knew he couldn't win the series for the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids. Down -0, it would take a lot more than one start. The best he could do, he figured, was prevent a sweep and give the Atlantica faithful a good time. Check and check.
The Northern Virginia right-hander threw a complete game shutout against the red-hot Las Vegas Flamingos to get the Rainbow Mermaids on the board in the series, striking out 6 along the way. The Rainbow Mermaids will be looking to keep the momentum the next time the teams meet. With the 2-0 win, Northern Virginia now trails - in the best-of- series.
García was in the zone all game. He frustrated Las Vegas hitters while giving the Rainbow Mermaids 9 innings of quality work. García threw 101 pitches, allowing 4 hits and getting 6 punchouts.
