Peña, Las Vegas Start Round 1 Strong with Home Win

Game was big. So was Luis Peña.
In leading Las Vegas to a crucial 4-3 victory over the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids at The Strip today, the Las Vegas starter rose to the occasion, tossing 7 good innings and earning player of the game honors. Peña threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball as the Flamingos defended their home field to seize a - lead in the best-of- Round 1.
In the bottom of the fifth, Las Vegas third baseman Sake van Arem had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 3rd and one out, van Arem stroked a run-scoring single to left. It made the score 4-2, Las Vegas. For the game, he was 1-4. He drove in 2 runs.
"I really like what we did out there today," Peña said after the game.
