Uruguayans Turn Back Moose Jaw, 4-2
|
Germantown pitcher Okura Yamasaki did his part in helping his team beat the Moose Jaw Canucks, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Yamasaki, now 8-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. François Boyer closed it out for his 7th save.
Tied up with the Canucks in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Uruguayans got a boost from designated hitter Obke Preesman. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Preesman saw a 1-1 splitter from Maximiano Agostinho and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Germantown on top, 2-1.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Germantown manager John McGrath.
Germantown has a 5-game win streak, while Moose Jaw has lost 3 in a row.
