Newcastle starter Kini Grinter pitched effectively against the Tulsa Otters at Ballpark of Hughesville. The right-hander led his team to a 3-1 win. The Mermen saw their win-loss record go to 34-54. At the same time, the Otters fell to 35-53.
Roberto Díaz, who is tied for 9th in the SR in extra base hits with 33, aided the Newcastle cause with a 2-run single in the top of the first. For the game, the second baseman went 1-3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
