Despite a fine performance by center fielder Barsati Saraf, the Newcastle Mermen suffered a 5-3 loss to the Amarillo Submarinos. Saraf was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Wesley Mason sewed up the save, his 20th. Amarillo now owns a record of 34-41.
The Submarinos got a big at-bat from second baseman Enrique De La Rosa. For the game, De La Rosa went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Amarillo a 4-3 lead.
"We did enough to win," said De La Rosa.
