Great Day for Sparks in Mermen Win
With designated hitter Stephen Sparks leading the charge, the Newcastle Mermen defeated the Ladue Rams, 7-4, at Newcastle Stadium. Sparks went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Pablo Rivera earned the save, his 1st. The Mermen raised their record to 26-46.

The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth when Sparks hit a run-scoring single. It propelled the Mermen into the lead, 2-1.
