It was a good time at Roadrunners Stadium, where fans came to watch the Fort Knox Centennial and Winter Haven Sun Sox get after it.
The Fort Knox Centennial got a sterling performance from pitcher Bing-zhong Qiu, but the Sun Sox still prevailed, 3-1. Qiu was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball. Winter Haven reliever José Peña got the win, raising his record to 7-3. Bing-zhong Qiu was tagged with the loss. Thomas Careless, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save.
Tom Camden helped out the Winter Haven cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a 2-run home run. For the game, the first baseman was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Camden told the Winter Haven Observer.
The Sun Sox have an impressive 56-30 record.
