Cajuns Go Down to Defeat, 7-4
|
The Crowley Cajuns got a superb performance from right fielder Ezequiel Viana. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Ogallala. The Octopi won the game, 7-4. In spite of the loss, Viana was named the player of the game. He was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. John Lee earned the win for Ogallala. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 11 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 6-2. Katsunan Saito earned the save for Ogallala, his 5th of the year.
Had Luis Arroyo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Arroyo hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Octopi.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Arroyo told a Ogallala Citizen reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
Ogallala now owns a record of 37-45.
