Coeur Win in Glorious Fashion
|
St. Louis right-hander David Moore made an effective start against the Toledo Stingers at The BFIB, leading his team to a 2-1 win. The win was Tim Nesheim's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Nelle Liefting took the loss for Toledo. With the win, St. Louis goes to 21-24, while the Stingers fall to 23-22.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Albert Morán came to bat in the bottom of the 16th. Facing Toledo pitcher Nelle Liefting, he hit a 2-2 changeup for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting St. Louis on top, 2-1.
"The old adage is true," said Morán. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
