Deer Stun Baby Lakers, 1-0
|
Fans who gathered at Wranglers Ballpark saw a good contest between the Sheridan Deer and Bompton Baby Lakers.
The Bompton Baby Lakers got a sterling performance from pitcher Abdul-Nasir Rabah, but the Deer still prevailed, 1-0. Rabah was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 8 innings of 2-hit ball. Sheridan reliever Ludovic Laurent was the winner. His record is now 5-1. Abdul-Nasir Rabah took the loss. Tomás Alfonso earned his 17th save in 18 tries.
Had Sam McConnell not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases empty, McConnell hit a solo home run. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Deer.
"It feels good to get this one," McConnell told the Sheridan Citizen.
The Deer' win now puts them at 27-25.
